The SCR has only two states of operation i.e. it can be either fully ON or completely OFF hence SCR can as a switch. There is no “active” region of operation like a transistor.

What is Silicon Controlled Rectifier? (SCR) Construction, Working & Applications
Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) is one of the oldest four-layer solid-state power device it was invented in 1957. SCR has the highest power handling capacity in comparison with other semiconductor devices. It has three terminals namely anode, cathode, and gate

This is a fun and educational mini project for students and hobbyists interested in basic electronics. Concepts Covered: Transistor Switching […]
What are Passive Electronic Components and their Classification
You have seen various types of electronic components they may be divided into two active and passive. Here is the definition of passive electronic components and their classification. Definition of Passive Components: “The devices which cannot control the flow of electrons by any other electrical signal are called passive components.” Resistors, capacitors, inductors, etc are […]
Types of Electronic Components Explained
Electronic components are the building blocks of electronic circuits and systems. There are various types of Electronic Components, each serving a unique function in the operation of electronic devices. They are broadly classified into two groups active components and passive components. “Electronics components are any basic discrete device or physical entity present in an electronic system […]
What are Active components in electronics and Their Classification
Definition of Active components: “Active components are those who has the ability to control flow of electrons either by using voltage or by using another current.” Voltage-controlled devices are MOSFETs, vacuum tubes, while current-controlled devices are bipolar junction transistors which allow one current to control another. Active components can be of different types like semiconductor […]
